Written for my Jade in 2006 when he was 2. He had awoken from a bad dream, and I pulled out the guitar to sing him to sleep. This melody and first verse came through … then the later verse came in reference to his favorite toy … the motorized elephant with the long cloth trunk that blew small butterflies into the air when you turned on the fan. As the butterflies shot out of the trunk, we would see how many we could catch in our butterfly nets before they hit ground.
